So It’s 4 am and I can’t sleep.
ADHD Insomnia kicking in I guess Staring at a roof I can’t even see. I can barely type properly but yet there’s all these things in my head I just have to get them out.

For some this might seem like a rant, but to me it’s just a way to get these things out of the way, so I can actually try to sleep.
I’ve been doing this Art thing for a few years now and I have worked with tons of different people from all over the globe and although it sounds so exotic and awesome, it’s really not like that at all.

I’ve realized that despite different nationalities, languages, beliefs and religions, we are all pretty much the same. we have the same dreams, desires, problems, passions etc.
In the past few years certain things about being an artist helped me to understand people better, and it has taught me that I’m not as special as I once thought I was for having an strong Afrikaans traditional upbringing. traditions are walls that prevents us from exploring what’s out there.
Remember them but don’t let them rule you.

I don’t know about other parts of the globe but I know in South Africa the racial thing is quite a big issue, and I don’t think it will change in the near future, too much has happened here. Its a sad reality i know.

We (South African kids) grew up in an environment where there was (and to some degree still has) huge political unrest. Racial segregation was seen every day, the house helpers had their own cutlery, and was refused to take a cups from the cupboard to drink from. we grew up like that and as kids,we didn’t fully understand why, you just think that’s how things are suppose to be, in some ways you can say we were brainwashed.

I am liberated.

For these past few years I have started questioning everything, who we are, what we believe in and so on.
I use to be extremely homophobic, racist, Sexist, etc, i was the whole package, I hated everything that wasn’t like me or better said: things that I didn’t understand.

But then I grew up, I realized that I was wrong, So many mistakes I made. In time I’ve met certain people that have changed my way of thinking, colleagues and friends, Muslims, Christians, Atheists, Blacks, Whites, Asians and a whole rainbow of other people all different, and all from different places

If you want people to respect you, you are going to have to do the same for them. respect all without question, and when they prove you wrong with their actions, then you blow the whistle, or draw the line. The prostitutes you see on the side of the road should be treated with the same respect as anyone else.
Your employer and the beggar on the street should be treated the same, that doesn’t mean treat your boss dude like shit, no it goes the other way around.

I believe In God, And I believe In Jesus, that will never change, However I Don’t like the fan club at all. Those who often judge the most. Being Christian makes you no better than anyone else. I’ve seen people pulling things out of the bible to use for their own personal gain, countless of times, and the same goes for any religion, race, sex or social class.

To everyone pretending to be somebody you’re not, trying to please the world so that somebody would accept you, please stop. It’s like putting a rose under a rock, and what the hell is the point of that. I’m actually having a hard time with that ATM, but sadly so much of being an artist is impressing others and I’m not perfect, but that’s a whole other rant for another day.

I am a South African, I’m white and Afrikaans but that’s not who I am, I can choose who I am, and I chose to be me.
people will add you to their Little boxes and judge you according to that, its called stereotyping and that is the one of the biggest causes for so much unnecessary conflict.
So many times you walk down the street and see a person of a specific ethnicity or religion, and you think you know what type of person that is, the truth is you don’t know anything about that person, and you are a fool to think you do.

I’m not white, I”m Just Raymond.

So to end my almost Nobel peace prize speech, be friendly to whoever crosses your path, don’t judge too easily and be try to be more humble, because the only thing you have is an opinion, just like billions of other people, opinions, opinions and opinions, opinions all around.
Opinions won’t be anything more than just a mere opinion.

Disclaimer: All of what I just said is in context of course, If you ask a famous golfer to teach you how to swing and then not agree with his particular method, please don’t tell him he only has an opinion, there is such a thing as an educated and uneducated opinions.
But this is just my uneducated opinion.

And If you have the ability to shine, then its your duty to shine.
